Saturday Evening Lecture:                         ~ 6o Minutes

  "WHAT MAKES A VIRGINIA QUILT?"

   Neva Hart, professional quilt appraiser

Lect Neva Book Cover

For more than 20 years, the state documentation project searched for quilts made in Virginia. In 2006 the book "Quilts for Virginia 1607 - 1899" was published with the results of that search. As an editor and contributor to the book, Neva Hart worked with the quilts and their owners learning the different characteristics of Virginians and the quilts they made.

She shares with the audience behind-the-scenes stories on the search, the quilts, the writing, and how quilts made today will be viewed in the future.
