#2 "Advanced Machine Quilting II"
All designs are different from Advanced Machine Quilting. The class is divided into two parts in order to cover more advanced designs for all areas of the quilt.
PART ONE: BACKGROUNDS, BLOCKS, AND BORDERS: Learn many new techniques and ideas for quilting in backgrounds, blocks, and borders that will enhance and accent the rest of the quilt, making it an integrated whole. A large part of the class will be devoted to innovative ways to quilt traditional blocks. If you have a block that you are particularly interested in, please bring a line drawing of it to class.
PART TWO: Learn to make many different Nature inspired designs of foliage, flowers, or ferns, both realistic and generic. Let these strong quilting designs become an integral part of the total design of the quilt. As always, the focus in part one and two will be on designs that don't have to be marked. In class we will make a sampler of techniques, as well as doing some design work, as time permits.
THIS CLASS IS NOT FOR BEGINNING MACHINE QUILTERS; YOU MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH FREE M0TI0N MACHINE QUILTING.

# 6 "NEW OXFORD ROSE"
This wall hanging (approx. 50" x 50") is an adaptation ofan 1870's quilt from New Oxford, Pennsylvania. If you like appliqué, then this is for you! We'll take a 19th century pattern and construct it with 21st century methods.
This class will focus on the appliqué preparation ofthe five blocks in the center and students will begin to appliqué by hand or machine. The nine patch format, sawtooth border and appliqué vine, buds, leaves and corner roses complete the project. Also discussed will be an easy method for making half square triangles, the bias strips that make the vine and the piping tucked next to the binding. And last but not least, suggestions for quilting designs in the setting blocks that reflect the character of the original quilt will be discussed. A mini traveling iron is required in this class.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made prior to May 16 will be refunded if tickets are returned to the BRQF.
The registration, handling and admission fees are non-refundable.
There are no refunds for cancellations received on or after May 17 so we can make a final commitment to our teachers.
