Nell
started hand quilting in 1974 with what she calls "a loooong needle".
She changed to shorter needles over the years and preferes now a # 10
between.
Another
of Nell's specialities are bindings. Prairie points, scallops, piping,
tucks and any combination of the above mentioned make her quilts truly
outstanding.

Ellen Slater
1919-2006
What if Ellen Slater had discovered the joys of quilting at an early age?
As it was she was nearly 70 when the quilting bug bit her.
Ellen was a traditional quilter altering colors and designs to suit her own style.Red and green were her colors of choice.She loved using stripes.She used wide borders and bindings and often incorporated black in her quilts.Many quilts included embellishments.Books, magazines, and workshops inspired her.Ellen was always eager to teach others tips in techniques and color and design.She was generous in gifting her quilts still having approximately 200 quilted items in her home upon her death.

Judy Simmons
Judy diplayed a wonderful

Judy Simmons holds a degree in Home Economics and has always loved sewing. Her techniques include fabric marbling, dying and painting, screening, discharging, silk painting as well as machine embellishment techniques.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.Judy is a 7 time designer for the Fairfield Fashion Show. Her quilt “Nosegay” is part of the permanent collection of Museum of American Quilters.
Judy has been published in many books, magazines and calendars.She is also the author of several articles and 2 books -Machine Needlelace and Other Embellishment Techniques and Creative Marbling on Fabric.Judy has also appeared on Simply Quilts.
Judy enjoys teaching and lecturing throughout the United States and Canada. She lives in Arden, NC.

Scott Murkin
Scott Murkin is a quilt designer from Asheboro, NC who focuses on original creations for the bed and wall. In addition to exhibiting nationally and internationally, Scott teaches quilting techniques, judges quilt shows and appraises quilts. His designs have won numerous awards and appeared in most of the major quilting publications.
Scott displayed a colorful selection of his quilts and taught 2 interesting classes.
